In a decisive anti-smuggling operation, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has successfully seized smuggled goods valued at Taka 2.25 crore from various frontier areas of Sylhet and Sunamganj districts in the past 24 hours.
The operation, led by BGB-48 Sylhet Battalion, covered several border areas including Pratappur, Sangram, Panthumai, Tamabil, Sonarhat, Kalairag, and Banglabazar, and resulted in the seizure of a wide range of contraband items.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Md. Nazmul Haque, the Commander of BGB-48 Sylhet Battalion, these goods were intercepted in various operations along the border areas where illicit trade and smuggling activities are rampant. In addition to consumer goods, the seizure of easy bikes and Bangladeshi boats highlights the growing use of transportation methods to facilitate illegal stone mining and other cross-border activities.

Lieutenant Colonel Haque explained that BGB’s operational and intelligence activities are being carried out with full intensity to enhance security and combat smuggling in the region. He emphasised the importance of vigilant surveillance and coordinated efforts to prevent such illegal activities at the border.
