Gazipur, 25 January — Panic gripped the streets of Bhogpara in Gazipur City on Sunday afternoon when a brazen gang executed a violent armed robbery, making off with approximately Tk 24 lakh. The incident occurred while the victims were transporting cash to deposit at a local bank, involving both a cocktail explosion and the firing of blank rounds to terrorise bystanders.
According to police and local sources, Shafiqul Islam, a resident of Ward 15 in Bhogpara, had set out to deposit Tk 24 lakh at the Gazipur Chourasta branch from the Dutch-Bangla Agent Bank. Accompanying him was Habibur Rahman. Both were travelling on a motorcycle when the attackers struck.
