The 2026 edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) concluded in spectacular fashion at Vadodara, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) claiming their second WPL title after a record-breaking chase against Delhi Capitals (DC). In a match dominated by the bat, RCB set multiple new benchmarks, consolidating their reputation as one of the most formidable franchises in women’s cricket.
Historic Chase and Rare Franchise Hat-Trick
Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Voll led RCB’s chase of 204, the highest successful pursuit in WPL history, surpassing RCB’s own previous record of 202 against Gujarat Giants (GG) in 2025. Mandhana’s 87 off 56 balls and Voll’s 79 off 54 combined for a record 165-run second-wicket partnership—the highest for any wicket in WPL history and the first century stand in a WPL final.
RCB’s triumph also completed a rare franchise hat-trick across the IPL and WPL, making them the first team to hold both trophies simultaneously. The league leader finally broke the four-year trend, becoming the first table-topper in four seasons to win the WPL. For DC, it was heartbreak yet again: the side finished runners-up for the fourth consecutive final, joining Brisbane Heat as only the second franchise in women’s cricket to lose four finals.
Record-Breaking Numbers
RCB’s successful chase of 204 is not only the highest in WPL finals but also the second-highest in all women’s T20 cricket, trailing only West Indies’ 213 against Australia in 2023. The match aggregate of 407 runs marked the highest total in any women’s T20 final globally and the third-highest in WPL history. DC’s 203-run innings was the highest first-innings score recorded in Vadodara for the WPL.
