Student Fatally Shot in Narsingdi Power Struggle

A 14-year-old student was tragically killed in Narsingdi’s Raipura Upazila on Wednesday morning amid violent clashes over local power dynamics. The incident occurred around 6:00 a.m. in Saydabad, Srinagar Union.

The deceased, Mustakim Mia, was a seventh-grade student and the son of Masud Rana, a Saudi-based expatriate. Local police and family sources confirmed that longstanding disputes between two rival groups in the area had escalated into fatal violence.

According to eyewitnesses, followers of Ershad Mia launched an armed attack on the residence of Hanif Master’s supporters, using both traditional and firearms. A confrontation ensued, during which Mustakim, who was reportedly standing in his home courtyard, was shot. At least ten individuals sustained injuries in the clash, with several suffering gunshot wounds.

Speaking to reporters, Mustakim’s mother, Shahana Begum, recounted the harrowing moment. “My son had stepped out into the courtyard early this morning. He was shot and killed there. We do not belong to any faction, yet my child’s life has been taken. I demand exemplary justice for those responsible,” she said.

Medical staff at Raipura Upazila Health Complex confirmed that Mustakim was brought to the emergency department with a gunshot wound to the left side of his body. Dr. Bimal Chandra Dhar stated, “The bullet penetrated his body and exited. Despite our immediate efforts, he was declared dead upon arrival.”
