Md. Suzauddoula, widely known as Sujon Mahmud, has been appointed as the Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. His appointment was officially announced on Monday, 2 March, through a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration.
According to the government notification, Sujon Mahmud has been appointed on a contractual basis under the condition that he severs all ties with any other profession, business, or engagement with government, semi-government, or private institutions. His remuneration will follow the final step of the Grade-4 pay scale. The appointment will remain valid either for the duration of the Prime Minister’s term or until he is relieved, whichever occurs first.
The notification further clarifies that all other terms and conditions of his appointment will be governed by the contractual agreement. The government has issued this order in the public interest, signalling its commitment to strengthening the Prime Minister’s media and communication team.
Sujon Mahmud, a native of Bogura, has an extensive background in journalism. He served as the Chief Reporter for Banglavision Digital Online, one of the country’s leading television channels. His career spans investigative reporting, political coverage, and editorial work, earning him a reputation for credibility and professionalism in the media sector.
Sujon’s political engagement began during his student life at Dhaka University. As a resident of Sir A. F. Rahman Hall, he was actively involved in student politics through the Bangladesh Chhatra Dal. His political activities during the era of the military-backed caretaker government, commonly referred to as the “One-Eleven” regime, and in subsequent anti-autocratic movements, sometimes placed him under scrutiny, requiring him to navigate challenging circumstances.
