Bollywood veteran Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, are once again under the media spotlight, this time due to candid remarks made by Sunita regarding her husband’s alleged extramarital affairs. In a recent interview, she spoke openly about the complexities of relationships between established actors and emerging actresses, sparking widespread discussion across the industry.
Speaking to media outlet Miss Malini, Sunita highlighted the challenges faced by married actors in the industry. “Many young actresses entering the industry aim to forge close ties with established stars to gain recognition. This reality often complicates the personal lives of married actors,” she explained.
She continued, “My children are now grown, and they become mentally disturbed by such rumours. I constantly tell Govinda that this is not the time for such distractions. Nowadays, those who are struggling often seek a ‘sugar daddy’ to support them financially. They may not be conventionally beautiful, yet they aspire to become leading actresses. The trap is set, and some even resort to blackmail.”
Sunita also addressed Govinda’s age and family situation, saying, “Such girls are not in short supply. But you are not foolish. You are 63, with a beautiful family, a loving wife, and two children. At this stage in life, this is simply unacceptable. Mistakes in youth may happen, but now, at this age, they cannot be excused.”
Her comments have ignited a flurry of discussion in Bollywood, with many viewing them as a direct and forthright statement on the relationships between stars and newcomers.
Previously, in multiple interviews, Sunita had alleged that Govinda had been involved in several relationships outside their marriage. However, Govinda has consistently denied these claims. Speaking to news agency ANI, he said, “Often, remaining silent leads people to think we are weak or that the problem lies with us. I am speaking out now because I have been informed that even my family members could be unknowingly drawn into a larger conspiracy.”
Govinda and Sunita married in 1987, initially keeping their relationship private. Their daughter, Tina Ahuja, was born in 1989, after which their family life came into public view. Despite persistent rumours of marital discord over the years, Sunita has repeatedly affirmed that there are no plans for separation.
