The Argentine government announced on Tuesday that Peruvian authorities had detained the suspected mastermind behind the brutal murders of three young women in a live-streamed attack. With this arrest, the total number of people apprehended in connection with the case has risen to nine.
Argentine Security Minister Patricia Bullrich praised the Peruvian authorities: “I want to congratulate the Peruvian National Police for their tremendous work and collaboration in capturing the two fugitives in the triple murder.”
The statement was posted on her official account on X (formerly Twitter).
| Suspect | Age | Nationality | Location of Arrest | Role in Case |
| “Little J” | ~20 | Peruvian | Pucusana, ~72 km south of Lima | Suspected mastermind; alleged operator of a drug gang in Buenos Aires’ Zavaleta neighbourhood |
| Matias Ozorio | ~23 | Argentine | Peru | Believed to be “Little J”‘s right-hand man |
“Little J” was arrested in Pucusana, approximately 45 miles (72 kilometres) south of Lima. Earlier, Bullrich had announced the capture of another suspect in Peru, Matias Ozorio.
The victims were found last week in a southern suburb of Buenos Aires:
| Victim | Age | Relation | Found |
| Morena Verdi | 20 | Cousin | Buried in yard, southern Buenos Aires suburb |
| Brenda del Castillo | 20 | Cousin | Buried in yard, southern Buenos Aires suburb |
| Lara Gutierrez | 15 | – | Buried in yard, southern Buenos Aires suburb |
The three young women – Morena Verdi, Brenda del Castillo, and 15-year-old Lara Gutierrez – had been reported missing on 19 September. Their bodies were discovered five days later, buried in the yard of a house.
According to Buenos Aires Security Minister Javier Alonso, the victims were tortured and killed during a live session in a closed social media group of 45 users. The attack was reportedly carried out as a “warning” over an alleged drug theft.
This case highlights the cross-border collaboration between Argentina and Peru in combating organised crime and brings renewed attention to the dangers of criminal activity circulating on social media platforms.
