In a heartwarming display of camaraderie and goodwill, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India’s Border Security Force (BSF) exchanged sweets and festive greetings at the Hili border to celebrate the holy occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The event took place on Saturday (21 March) at noon along the zero line separating the two countries in Dinajpur’s Hili sector. Members of both forces greeted each other warmly and reaffirmed their joint commitment to maintaining peace and order along the border.
At precisely 12:00 pm, the ceremonial exchange began. Commander Md. Alauddin of the Joypurhat BGB presented four packets of sweets to Shri Rahid Sharma of the BSF as a gesture of Eid goodwill. In return, the BSF offered an equal number of sweet packets to the BGB personnel, symbolising mutual respect and friendship.
The exchange was attended by both male and female officers from each force. Amidst a cheerful atmosphere, the officers shared Eid greetings, engaged in friendly interactions, and strengthened the bonds of cooperation between the neighbouring countries’ border forces.
Speaking at the occasion, Hili BGB Company Commander Md. Alauddin emphasised the importance of fostering strong relations and camaraderie between the two countries’ border forces. “On special occasions, we exchange sweets and gifts with our counterparts to maintain good relations and enhance fraternal spirit,” he said. “Today, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, we presented sweets to the BSF, and they reciprocated with their greetings. Such gestures play a vital role in promoting harmony and goodwill along the border.”
