Tamim Achieves Maiden ODI Century Against Pakistan

Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim reached a landmark moment in his international career today, scoring his first-ever One Day International (ODI) century in a decisive series match against Pakistan. Exhibiting remarkable composure and strokeplay, Tamim anchored the innings from the top, guiding Bangladesh to a strong position.

After a steady start by the opening pair, Bangladesh crossed the 100-run mark without losing a wicket, signalling the team’s intent to dominate the match. The visitors’ bowling attack, led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, struck back when Saif Hasan (36) was bowled during Afridi’s over. Yet, Tamim maintained his rhythm, accumulating runs with confidence and precision.

Following the departure of Nazmul Hossain Shanto for 27 to pacer Haris Rauf, Tamim partnered with Litton Das to stabilise the innings. Their partnership ensured a continued flow of runs and laid the foundation for Tamim’s historic achievement.

Tamim reached his maiden century with a six off the final ball of the 33rd over, completing a scintillating innings of 100 runs from just 98 deliveries. His knock featured seven towering sixes and six elegant fours, reflecting both aggression and technical finesse.

This century marks a personal milestone for Tamim, who had previously registered his highest ODI score of 84 against Sri Lanka in Chittagong in 2024. As of the 33rd over, Bangladesh had scored 177 for the loss of two wickets, putting them in a competitive position against a formidable Pakistani bowling line-up.
