In the forthcoming 13th national parliamentary elections, Tania Rabb, senior co-chairperson of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), has filed her candidacy for the Laxmipur-4 constituency, covering Ramgati and Kamalnagar. Analysis of the affidavits submitted to the Election Commission reveals that Tania Rabb’s declared wealth is nearly eight and a half times greater than that of her husband, A S M Abdur Rabb, while her annual income is almost three times higher.
Tania Rabb is the sole female candidate among 25 contenders across the four Laxmipur constituencies. She hails from Charbadam village in Ramgati Upazila. Her husband, A S M Abdur Rabb, is a noted historical figure who, on 2 March 1971, led the raising of Bangladesh’s first national flag at Dhaka University.
