Teacher and daughter injured in Bauphal robbery attempt

Bauphal, Patuakhali – In a shocking incident late on Thursday night, a school teacher and her teenage daughter were brutally attacked after a failed robbery at their residence in Bauphal Upazila, Patuakhali. The horrifying episode occurred around 2:00 a.m. at the Hawladar family home in Ward No. 1 of Keshabpur Union.

Victim Hosne Ara Begum, a local schoolteacher, recounted the terrifying ordeal. “I was awakened by noises inside the house and immediately saw two unidentified individuals moving around in my room. When I raised an alarm, they turned violent and attacked both me and my 14-year-old daughter, Tabiya, with sharp weapons, leaving us seriously injured,” she said.

The assailants reportedly fled the scene when neighbours responded to the commotion. Promptly assisted by local residents, the mother and daughter were taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. Sources indicate that both sustained deep cuts and multiple injuries, though doctors are currently monitoring their condition closely.

The incident has left the local community shaken. Neighbours expressed their outrage at the audacity and brutality of the attackers, calling for stricter security measures in the area.

Police from Bauphal Thana visited the scene shortly after the incident. Officer-in-Charge Md. Siddiqur Rahman stated, “Our team has inspected the scene. No formal complaint has yet been lodged, but once received, we will take all necessary legal action.”
