Teachers across all government colleges in Bangladesh are observing a work stoppage in response to the assault on teachers at Dhaka College. Simultaneously, officials from the BCS (General Education) cadre are wearing black badges and staging sit-in protests at public educational institutions nationwide.

The notice states that the BCS General Education Association strongly condemns the assault on teachers, officials, and students at the historic Dhaka College, including the vandalism in the teachers’ lounge.

According to the notice, all teachers in government colleges, including those in Dhaka, will participate in a complete work stoppage today. The BCS General Education cadre officials have been called upon to join the programme to ensure its success.
The association’s leaders emphasised that violence against teachers and students is entirely unacceptable, and such incidents create fear and instability in educational institutions, posing a threat to the national education system.
Earlier, on the morning of Monday, 13 October, during a march by students from seven colleges demanding the swift implementation of the ‘Dhaka Central University Act–2025’, clashes occurred between teachers and students in the Dhaka College campus.
