Authorities in Madan Upazila, Netrokona, have recovered the body of a teenage boy who went missing after being called away from a local shop the previous evening. The grim discovery was made on Monday morning in a paddy field at Maghan Rouha Haor, according to Debanshu Kumar, Investigating Officer of Madan Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Md. Shawon, aged 16, son of Dulal Bhuiya of Padmashree Bhuiyati village, within Gobindashree Union. Shawon was a tenth-grade student at Jahangirpur T Amin Government Pilot High School.
According to police and local residents, Shawon had been at his grandfather’s shop in Kadomshree Bikal Bazaar on Sunday afternoon. Later that evening, he was reportedly approached by two unidentified individuals who persuaded him to leave with them. When he failed to return home that night, his family conducted an extensive search across nearby areas, but to no avail. His body was ultimately discovered in the paddy field the following morning.
Police have confirmed that Shawon’s body has been sent to Netrokona Sadar Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. Early reports indicate that multiple injuries were present on his body, suggesting foul play.

Speaking to the press, Officer Debanshu Kumar stated:
“The investigation into this case is ongoing. We are following all leads and the legal process is underway. We urge anyone with information to come forward.”
Local residents described Shawon as a well-behaved and academically diligent boy. News of his untimely death has left the community and his school peers in shock and mourning. One neighbour remarked:
“Shawon was a quiet and conscientious child. We never expected such a violent end for him. His loss has deeply affected everyone here.”
Authorities have intensified security measures in the area while the investigation continues. Police are currently examining CCTV footage, mobile phone records, and witness statements to identify the perpetrators.
The tragic incident has sparked concern among parents and residents about child safety, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and community awareness in rural areas.
