An earthquake in the Bay of Bengal caused tremors in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar at midnight. The 4-magnitude quake originated 118 kilometres from Teknaf at 3:29am on Thursday.
The information was provided by the earthquake-monitoring website Volcano Discovery. It stated that most people in Teknaf did not feel the tremor as it was very mild.
Although Volcano Discovery could not confirm the depth of the epicentre, the EMSC reported that the quake occurred 10 kilometres beneath the surface.
