In a strategic move aimed at consolidating broader political unity, the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) has joined forces with Jamaat-e-Islami as part of a ten-party alliance, a decision announced in Dhaka on Sunday evening. At an urgent press conference held at the NCP’s temporary office in Banglamotor, party chief Nahid Islam outlined the party’s plans and emphasised the importance of collaboration in the wake of recent public movements.
According to party sources, under the seat-sharing agreement within the alliance, several NCP leaders are expected to contest elections across various constituencies, including the capital city, Dhaka. Preliminary discussions have led to the provisional identification of candidates for key constituencies, although the final list remains subject to approval after further consultation with alliance partners.
