The funeral of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia will be conducted under the highest level of security, with over 10,000 law enforcement personnel deployed at the site, according to Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser. He shared this information following a meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.
“Her burial and funeral rites will be carried out with full state honours. The Chief Adviser and all advisers will be present at the funeral,” Shafiqul Alam confirmed.
Earlier in the day, a meeting of the advisers was convened to determine the arrangements for Khaleda Zia’s burial, to maintain law and order, and to address other related matters following her passing.
The meeting was presided over by the Home Affairs Adviser, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. A host of other advisers were present, covering portfolios ranging from religion, law, foreign employment, youth affairs, transport, culture, local government, energy, environment, and disaster management. Their collective role is to ensure that the state funeral proceeds smoothly while maintaining public order.
