At least three police officers were killed in a terrorist attack on a police checkpost in Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. Two more officers were injured in the late-night attack on Wednesday (26 November), according to Sama TV.

Police and district administration sources reported that heavy gunfire erupted at the Kazi Talab checkpost on Shahu Road.

The police stated that the terrorists specifically targeted the Kazi Talab checkpost.

District Police Officer (DPO) Khan Zeb Khan said that the police personnel faced the attackers with great courage.

During the confrontation, the terrorists fired excessively, resulting in a prolonged gun battle. Additional police units later arrived at the scene and joined the operation under the leadership of the DPO.

Authorities confirmed that at least three police officers were killed in the attack. They are LHC Wahid Shah and Constable Abdul Samad. The identity of the third deceased officer is yet to be confirmed.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Siraj Afridi strongly condemned the attack, calling it a heinous and cowardly act aimed at disturbing peace. He said, “Terrorists have no religion. Such attacks will not break the morale of the province’s security forces.”

He also stated that all perpetrators will be brought to justice. The provincial government is standing by the families of the deceased and injured police officers.
