Sarwar Hossain Rabbi, the young man who rented a microphone to abuse locals due to not receiving a loan of 100,000 taka to go abroad, has finally seen his dream come true. Rabbi himself confirmed the news to the media. He is scheduled to leave for Saudi Arabia on October 30.
Earlier, a news report titled “Rented a microphone to abuse locals for not being able to go abroad” went viral instantly on social media.
Rabbi, a resident of South Panan village in Gobindapur Union, Hossainpur Upazila, Kishoreganj, comes from a poor family. Although he had saved money and obtained a visa to go to Saudi Arabia, he could not manage the additional 100,000 taka required. Seeking financial help from various sources yielded no results. He even invited NGO officials to his home, who initially agreed to help but later refused to provide the money.
Angered by allegations that some locals tried to stop him, Rabbi rented a microphone for 500 taka and verbally abused people in the village on October 16, posting the video on his Facebook account. The clip went viral instantly and caught media attention.
Rabbi said, “I tried twice before to go abroad, but I couldn’t at the last moment due to lack of funds. This time, it was the same. I had my visa but could not go because of financial uncertainty. That’s why I rented a microphone and abused people out of frustration. If I couldn’t go this time, everything would have been over.” He also added that he is married and responsible for his wife, child, and mother.
He expressed gratitude to the media, saying, “If your report had not been published, I might not have been able to go abroad. After the news came out, the Kishoreganj branch of the Migrant Welfare Bank contacted me. On October 23, the bank granted me a loan of 200,000 taka. I have already received my ticket, and I am scheduled to depart for Saudi Arabia on October 30.”
Mozammel Haque, General Manager of the Kishoreganj branch of the Migrant Welfare Bank, said that the matter came to the bank’s attention after the news was published. With local support, the bank completed all formalities and granted Rabbi the financial assistance he needed. The repayment of the loan will begin in installments after the first two months. The bank also encourages anyone facing financial difficulties for overseas travel to seek its assistance.
