The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that spectators who purchased tickets for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) matches scheduled on 15 January will receive a full refund. The announcement comes after the planned fixtures on that day were cancelled following a dispute involving BCB director M. Nazmul Islam, which led to an ultimatum from players and ultimately forced the matches off the field.
Fans who had eagerly arrived at the stadium to watch the matches were left disappointed, as both fixtures failed to take place. To address this, the BCB issued an official statement late on the night of 16 January, confirming the refund process for affected ticket holders.
In addition to refunds, the BCB has outlined a revised schedule for the Dhaka leg of the BPL, ensuring that all postponed matches will be played on subsequent dates. Spectators who purchased tickets for the original 16 January match can attend the game using their existing tickets, while separate tickets will be required for matches on 17 and 18 January.
The BCB has requested that ticket holders seeking a refund for the cancelled 15 January matches contact the official ticketing portal at www.gobcbticket.com.bd/en or call +880 9606-501231 for assistance.
The revised match schedule and ticket policy are summarised in the following table:
| Original Date | Revised Date | Ticket Policy |
|---|---|---|
| 15 January | 16 January | Refund available for all ticket holders |
| 16 January | 17 January | Existing tickets valid |
| 17 January | 18 January | New tickets required |
This proactive approach by the BCB aims to ensure transparency and fairness to fans who had invested in attending the matches. Cricket enthusiasts have welcomed the move, highlighting the importance of clear communication in managing schedule disruptions.
The BPL continues to be a significant event in Bangladesh’s sporting calendar, drawing thousands of fans to Dhaka Stadium. Despite the unforeseen disruption, the board’s swift action in refunding tickets and revising the schedule is expected to restore confidence among spectators and maintain the league’s reputation for professional management.
