The Person Shah Rukh Once Turned to for Help in His Hard Times

Once struggling in severe financial hardship, the man who now rules Bollywood with his name alone is none other than Shah Rukh Khan. Today, he owns properties from Dubai’s islands to London’s palaces. But behind his glittering success lies a story of struggle and darkness — as recalled by actor and screenwriter Vivek Vaswani.

In an interview with a media outlet, Vivek shared memories of Shah Rukh’s difficult past. It was during the 1990s, when Shah Rukh was doing minor roles on television and had yet to get a big break in films. Around that time, his mother became critically ill. One day, Shah Rukh suddenly knocked on Vivek’s door. They had met through television work, and because of that friendship, Shah Rukh came to him in tears. With a trembling voice, he said, “My mother won’t survive. I’m lost with my sister. I haven’t eaten for two days. I desperately need money. Please help me get a role in a film.”

Vivek further explained that at that time, Aziz Mirza was writing the script for Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. A meeting was arranged between Shah Rukh and Aziz, which eventually marked the beginning of Shah Rukh’s Bollywood journey. However, his film Deewana, co-starring Divya Bharti and Rishi Kapoor, was released first and gave him his initial fame.

According to Vivek, Shah Rukh had an extraordinary determination and hunger for success. He was willing to work tirelessly to achieve it — and that’s why he is now known as the King of Bollywood. Shah Rukh didn’t just receive success; he earned it.

Notably, Shah Rukh Khan turns 60 today. His fans are celebrating his birthday with great enthusiasm. Reports suggest that instead of his residence ‘Mannat’, he will celebrate this year at his bungalow in Alibaug.
