The newly elected members of the Thirteenth National Parliament are scheduled to take their oaths at 10 a.m. at the Oath-Taking Hall of the Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat. The ceremony will be administered by the Chief Election Commissioner, A. M. M. Nasir Uddin.
In a letter signed by Akhtar Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Election Commission of Bangladesh (ECB), it was stated:
“The Chief Election Commissioner will administer the oath of office to the elected members of the Thirteenth National Parliament, as well as members of the Constitutional Reform Council, on 17 February at 10 a.m. in the Oath-Taking Hall of the Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat.”
According to unofficial results from the Thirteenth National Parliamentary elections, out of 297 declared constituencies, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secured a commanding majority by winning 209 seats. The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami claimed 68 seats.
In addition, the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) won six seats, while independent candidates secured seven.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party, contesting under the “Paddy Sheaf” symbol, garnered 49.97% of the total votes. The second-highest seat-winning party, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, represented by the “Darpipalla” symbol, received 31.76% of votes. The NCP, contesting under the “Shapla Kali” symbol, participated in 32 constituencies and obtained 3.05% of the total vote share.
Overall, a total of 50 political parties and 274 independent candidates competed in the elections.
It is important to note that although elections were conducted in 299 constituencies, the results from two Chittagong constituencies (Chittagong-2 and Chittagong-4) have not been declared due to ongoing court directives. Consequently, results have been officially announced for the remaining 297 seats.

The oath-taking ceremony marks a pivotal step in formalising the composition of the Thirteenth National Parliament and the Constitutional Reform Council. With the BNP securing a majority, the parliamentary proceedings are expected to commence smoothly, setting the stage for legislative activities in the new term.
