Thirteen US Soldiers Killed in Iran Conflict

The ongoing military conflict with Iran has resulted in the deaths of 13 United States soldiers, with around 200 others reported injured. Of those wounded, ten are in critical condition, according to Captain Tim Hawkins, spokesperson for the US Central Command.

On Tuesday, 17 March, Qatar-based news outlet Al Jazeera reported these figures, citing official military sources. Captain Hawkins stated that many of the injured have already recovered sufficiently to return to duty, with approximately 180 personnel rejoining their assignments following treatment and rehabilitation.

General Dan Cain, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, noted last week that these drone attacks have been responsible for the majority of the fatalities among US personnel.

The conflict escalated on 28 February, when the United States and Israel initiated a joint military operation within Iranian territory. Since then, Iran has conducted a series of retaliatory attacks. Reports indicate that several strikes have occurred in Gulf states allied with the US and Israel, highlighting the regional dimension of the confrontation.
