Munshiganj, Bangladesh – A tragic motorcycle accident claimed the lives of three friends in Tangibari’s Yashlong area on Thursday night. The incident occurred around 10:00 pm near Dorjapara, local authorities confirmed.
Tangibari police station’s Officer-in-Charge, Mohammad Monirul Haque DABLU, reported that the motorcycle, reportedly travelling at excessive speed, lost control and collided with a tree. “Police arrived at the scene promptly and confirmed the fatalities. Investigation into the exact cause of the accident is underway, and appropriate legal measures are being taken,” he said.
The deceased have been identified as Saniyat, 32; Sakib, 30; and Turjo, 30. Saniyat and Sakib were pronounced dead at the scene, while Turjo was critically injured and taken to Munshiganj Sadar Hospital. Medical staff there later declared him dead.
Local sources revealed that the trio were close friends and residents of the same locality. Turjo was the son of Badal Maji from Majhibari, Tangibari, while Saniyat and Sakib were his long-time friends. Witnesses described the motorcycle as moving at a “recklessly high speed” at the time of the accident, making it impossible for the rider to maintain control around the bend where the crash occurred.
The Tangibari police have cordoned off the area and are conducting a detailed investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision. Efforts are ongoing to determine whether road conditions, vehicle malfunction, or driver error contributed to the fatal crash. Authorities also emphasised the need for caution, particularly at night, to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Below is a brief overview of the victims:
| Name | Age | Residence | Place of Death | Relationship |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Saniyat | 32 | Dorjapara, Yashlong | At the scene | Friend of Turjo |
| Sakib | 30 | Dorjapara, Yashlong | At the scene | Friend of Turjo |
| Turjo | 30 | Majhibari, Tangibari | Munshiganj Sadar Hospital | Son of Badal Maji |
Community members expressed shock at the accident and highlighted concerns over speeding and road safety in the area. Local police have urged riders to exercise caution, especially at night, and assured residents that strict measures will be implemented to prevent future accidents.
This unfortunate incident marks yet another reminder of the hazards of reckless driving in Munshiganj, where road infrastructure and high-speed travel often contribute to fatal accidents. Authorities continue their investigation to ensure accountability and reinforce public safety measures.
