A tragic incident in Faridabad, Haryana, India, has left the community in shock after a four-year-old girl reportedly died following a severe beating by her father. The incident occurred on 21 January 2026, when the child’s father, identified as Krishna Jaiswal, attempted to teach his daughter basic counting.

According to police reports, Krishna had been instructing his daughter in various subjects when he began teaching her numbers. He allegedly asked her to write numbers from 1 to 50. While the child started writing, she soon forgot several numbers and was unable to continue.

Typically, young children often forget sequences, and parents or teachers correct them patiently. However, in this case, Krishna reportedly lost his temper and physically assaulted his daughter after she failed to complete the task. The assault ultimately resulted in the child’s death, according to preliminary police findings.

Krishna and his wife lived with their daughter in a rented accommodation in Faridabad. Both parents are employed by a private company, with childcare duties divided between them. During the day, Krishna’s wife was at work, leaving him responsible for supervising and teaching their daughter. When his wife returned home in the evening, she discovered the child’s lifeless body and immediately alerted the authorities. Krishna was subsequently arrested by the police.

This incident has sparked widespread outrage in the local community, with social workers and child protection advocates urging greater awareness around child safety and non-violent parenting practices. Experts emphasise that young children require patience and supportive guidance rather than punitive measures, noting that even minor educational struggles should never escalate to violence.
