Hollywood actor Tom Holland, widely celebrated for his role as Spider-Man, suffered a serious head injury during filming. The accident occurred while performing a stunt on the set of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” Following the incident, he was rushed to hospital by ambulance.
Filming was taking place at Leavesden Studios in Watford, England, when Holland sustained the injury. According to the Eastern of England Ambulance Service, they received a call at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, after which paramedics immediately dispatched an ambulance to transport the injured actor.
British media outlet The Sun reported that Holland was kept under observation for some time due to the head injury. Although not critically injured, he was diagnosed with a mild concussion. After being discharged from hospital, Holland was spotted with his father, Dominic Holland, and his fiancée, Zendaya, at a charity event. However, he reportedly left early as he was still feeling unwell.
The accident has raised concerns about the future of the film. Tom’s father has confirmed that the actor will take a short break from filming to recover. However, Variety magazine quoted sources saying the injury was not very serious and that the break was taken purely as a precautionary measure. They further added that Holland is expected to return to the set very soon.
Filming of the upcoming Spider-Man instalment began in August in Glasgow, Scotland. Alongside Tom Holland, the movie will also feature Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, reprising their previous roles. Reports suggest that this chapter will rely more on real stunts rather than computer graphics, paying homage to the traditional style of action sequences in Spider-Man films.
