Tragic Death of Young Man in Khilgaon

A grim incident shook the western Nandipara area of Khilgaon, Dhaka, on Tuesday night, as the body of 23-year-old Mohammad Parvez was discovered hanging in his home. According to information from both police and family members, Parvez was found in an unconscious state and rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at around 2:15 am on 16 December. Despite the prompt medical attention, the attending doctors confirmed his death upon arrival.

Parvez, a resident of the Khilgaon Police Station area in West Nandipara, was the son of Mohammad Khairuddin. He worked at a local tissue manufacturing company. Relatives revealed that in the days leading up to his death, Parvez had been struggling with physical illness and appeared to be under mental strain. His recent behaviour had reportedly become irritable and unsettled, reflecting a degree of emotional unrest.

Speaking to reporters, Parvez’s cousin, Mohammad Zakaria, recounted that on the night of the tragedy, Parvez informed his mother that he was going to sleep and asked not to be disturbed. He then closed his room door. When he failed to respond for an extended period, family members, with assistance from neighbours, forcibly entered the room. They discovered Parvez hanging from a beam with a scarf tied around his neck.

He was immediately taken to DMCH, but doctors were unable to save him, declaring him dead upon arrival.

Inspector Mohammad Faruk, officer in charge of the DMCH hospital police camp, stated that Parvez’s body had been sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. He confirmed that Khilgaon Police Station had been formally notified and that a detailed investigation had begun to establish the circumstances of his death.

Family members emphasised that Parvez had been suffering from both physical illness and emotional stress, which may have played a role in the tragic event. Police have reiterated that the official cause of death will be determined only after the completion of the autopsy report.

The incident has left both the local community and Parvez’s family in profound shock. Authorities urge anyone with additional information to assist with the ongoing investigation.
