Travel Ban Imposed on Samira Haque and Don

A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on Samira Haque, wife of popular actor Salman Shah (Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar Emon), and notorious actor Ashraful Haque Don in connection with a case filed over the alleged premeditated murder of Salman Shah. The order was issued on Monday by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifuzzaman following a request from the case’s investigating officer.

Nasir Ahmed, ADC (Administration) of the DMP Prosecution Department, confirmed the matter to reporters.

Earlier, on 22 October, the investigating officer of the case, Police Inspector Atikul Alam Khondaker of Ramna Police Station, applied for the travel ban against them.

After Salman Shah’s death on 6 September 1996, an unnatural death case was initially filed at Ramna Police Station. However, on 20 October, the Sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge of Dhaka, Md. Jannatul Ferdous Ibne Haque, approved a revision petition filed by the plaintiff’s side, instructing that the case be treated as a murder case. Following this, on 21 October, Salman Shah’s maternal uncle Mohammad Alamgir filed the case at Ramna Police Station. Eleven people, including Salman Shah’s wife Samira Haque, have been named as accused. They have been charged under Sections 302/34 of the Penal Code.

Other accused in the case include businessman and former film producer Aziz Mohammad Bhai, Latifa Haque Lucy, actor Ashraful Haque, Debit, Javed, Faruk, Ruby of Mayfair Beauty Center, Abdus Chattar, Saju, and Rezvi Ahmed Farhad. Additionally, several unknown individuals have also been named as accused in the case.
