The trial for the rape and murder of the eight-year-old girl from Magura could begin within seven days, Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul said today.
Speaking at a press conference at the Secretariat, he emphasized that law enforcement, medical professionals, and the judiciary are working with utmost urgency to ensure swift justice.
There have been precedents where sensational cases were concluded within seven to eight days, Nazrul said, underscoring the government’s commitment to expediting the legal process.
The child passed away at Dhaka’s Combined Military Hospital (CMH) earlier today. She had been admitted to CMH Dhaka in critical condition on March 8. According to a case filed by her mother, the girl was raped while visiting her elder sister’s home in Magura town. Police have arrested her sister’s husband, his parents, and his brother in connection with the crime. They have been placed on remand as the investigation continues.
