Early Wednesday morning, a fruit-laden truck overturned on the Dhaka–Mawa Expressway in the Hasara area of Srinagar Upazila, Munshiganj District, following a collision with a passenger bus. Several individuals sustained minor injuries in the incident, which occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m. on 11 February. The identities of the injured were not immediately confirmed.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck, en route to Dhaka, was travelling at a slow pace when it was struck from behind by a fast-moving bus. The impact caused the truck to lose control and topple, scattering its cargo of both raw and ripened fruits across the roadway. The sudden accident prompted panic among nearby residents and commuters.
Local bystanders acted swiftly to assist the injured, transporting them to various hospitals prior to the arrival of emergency services. Dewan Md. Azad, an officer with the Srinagar Fire Service, stated, “The truck was moving slowly. The high-speed collision from the bus caused it to overturn. The injured were rescued by locals before our team reached the site. Thankfully, none of the injuries were serious.”
Hasara Highway Police Officer-in-Charge ATM Mahmudul Haque confirmed that the bus involved in the accident had already been removed and that efforts were underway to upright the overturned truck. He noted that traffic on the expressway had resumed normal flow and that no major congestion occurred as a result of the incident.
