A report in The New York Times on President Donald Trump was co-written by Dylan Friedman and Katy Rogers. While Dylan’s name was not mentioned, Trump personally targeted Katy Rogers, stating, “Katy Rogers was hired just to write bad things about me. She is a third-rate journalist; ugly both inside and out.”
The New York Times recently published a detailed, data-driven report about President Trump’s age and physical fitness, which angered the 79-year-old.
On Wednesday, Trump attacked the female co-author Katy Rogers on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’, calling her ‘ugly’. Just two weeks ago, he had told another female journalist to “shut up, piggy.” This new personal attack has sparked renewed discussions about his gender-sensitive behaviour.
Responding to the report on Wednesday, Trump said, “Those miserable people at the failing New York Times are at it again.” The report was authored by Dylan Friedman from the paper’s AI initiative team and White House correspondent Katy Rogers. Trump did not mention Dylan but targeted Katy personally.
He wrote, “Katy Rogers was hired just to write bad things about me. She is a third-rate journalist; ugly both inside and out.”
In the same post, Trump listed the hard work he has done this year, claiming he is at an all-time high in public opinion polls, though in reality his support has declined. Regarding his health, he stated, “A day will come when my strength will wane, as happens to everyone, but that day has not come for me yet.” He also claimed to have excelled in various physical and cognitive tests.
The New York Times reported that Trump had an MRI in early October, though the reason has not been publicly disclosed. Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt asserted that Trump and his administration are always open and transparent.
Trump also attacked the newspaper, calling it an “institution soon to close,” although The New York Times remains profitable with a growing digital subscriber base. He has filed a defamation suit, but legal experts consider the case weak.
A spokesperson for The New York Times issued a statement on Wednesday, saying, “The Times’ reporting is accurate and fact-based. Name-calling or personal attacks will not change the truth. Despite intimidation tactics, our journalists will not back down in covering the administration.”
They added, “Skilled and dedicated journalists like Katy Rogers demonstrate how an independent media helps the American public better understand their government and leaders.”
