U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said that US had a “very good and productive” discussion with Russian president Vladimir Putin, suggesting there is a “very good chance” of ending the war in Ukraine.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump revealed that he has urged Putin to spare the lives of thousands of Ukrainian troops who, he claimed, are “completely surrounded” by Russian forces. He warned that the situation could lead to a “horrible massacre” on a scale “not seen since World War II.”
While Trump did not elaborate on the specifics of the discussions with Putin, his remarks signal a potential diplomatic push amid the ongoing conflict.
