Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again claimed that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize—not just once, but seven times. Speaking at the American Cornerstone Institute Founders Dinner on Saturday (20 September), Trump asserted that his efforts in trade diplomacy had successfully ended seven conflicts around the world, including the long-standing tensions between India and Pakistan.
Trump told NDTV that his approach on the global stage was unprecedented:“We are doing something on the world stage that has never been done before. We are making peace agreements, we are stopping wars. For instance, we stopped the war between India and Pakistan and ended conflicts between Thailand and Cambodia.”
He emphasised the serious risk of conflict between India and Pakistan, both nuclear-armed nations, and claimed that his warnings—that no trade would occur if war broke out—prompted the two countries to back down.
“I have respect for the leaders of both nations, but essentially, it was trade that halted the conflict,” Trump said.
According to Trump, his diplomatic interventions have also resolved tensions in several other regions:
| Conflict | Trump’s Claim |
| Thailand – Cambodia | Stopped war via trade diplomacy |
| Armenia – Azerbaijan | Conflict halted, 60% due to trade |
| Kosovo – Serbia | Resolved through economic pressure |
| Israel – Iran | Diplomatic measures prevented escalation |
| Egypt – Ethiopia | Trade incentives contributed to peace |
| Rwanda – Congo | Conflict mitigated through economic agreements |
Trump further stated that “60% of these peace achievements were due to trade.”
Trump elaborated on his desire for recognition: “Many have told me that if I can stop the Russia-Ukraine war, I would receive the Nobel. But I have already stopped seven wars. I should get one Nobel for each conflict.”
Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, he admitted that he initially believed it could be resolved easily due to his personal rapport with Vladimir Putin but later became frustrated. Nevertheless, he remains confident that the conflict will eventually be resolved.
Trump’s statements reflect his longstanding habit of self-promotion on the global stage, asserting that his trade-focused diplomacy has single-handedly prevented multiple international conflicts and that this achievement warrants multiple Nobel Peace Prizes.
