Donald Trump, aged 79 and the oldest individual ever elected President of the United States, has been declared to be in “excellent overall health” following his second medical evaluation of the year, according to a statement released on Friday by the White House.
The former president underwent his medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, situated on the outskirts of Washington, D.C. Upon returning to the White House, Trump gave reporters a thumbs-up when asked how the check-up had gone.
“President Trump continues to demonstrate excellent overall health,”
wrote Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, the President’s physician, in an official letter shared by the White House.
Dr Barbabella added that Trump’s “cardiac age”—an evidence-based measure of cardiovascular vitality determined via electrocardiogram (ECG)—was found to be approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age.
“He continues to maintain a demanding daily schedule without restriction,” the doctor confirmed.
| Aspect of Examination | Details Provided by White House / Dr Barbabella |
| Type of Examination | Comprehensive physical check-up (second of the year) |

| Tests Conducted | Routine health tests, ECG, and blood analysis |
| Vaccinations Administered | Updated Covid-19 booster and annual flu shot |
| Physician’s Summary | “Excellent overall health”; maintains full daily workload |
This medical assessment follows speculation in recent months regarding Trump’s visible bruising and leg swelling. In July, the White House confirmed that the former president had been diagnosed with a chronic but benign condition — Chronic Venous Insufficiency — which was responsible for the observed symptoms.
The administration clarified that the bruising on Trump’s right hand was linked to aspirin use, a standard element of his cardiovascular health regimen. Trump is often seen in public with make-up concealing the discolouration on his hand.
At his previous health evaluation, the White House reported that Trump displayed:
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office a day prior to the examination, Trump said he was preparing for what he called a “semi-annual physical.”
“I’m in great shape, but I’ll let you know. I have no difficulty thus far… Physically, I feel very good. Mentally, I feel very good,” he asserted.
He went on to contrast his health with that of previous presidents, particularly Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and George W. Bush.
“During my last check-up, I also did a cognitive exam—which is always very risky, because if I didn’t do well, you’d be the first to be blaring it—and I had a perfect score,” he boasted.
“Did Obama do it? No. Did Bush do it? No. Did Biden do it? I definitely did. Biden wouldn’t have gotten the first three questions right.”
Despite repeated accusations of limited transparency about his medical condition, Trump has publicly dismissed rumours surrounding his health.
In September, he mocked false social media claims alleging he had died, referring to them as “ridiculous.”
Although the White House described Friday’s visit as an “annual check-up”, observers noted that Trump had already undergone one earlier in April, making this his second full medical review within six months.
The former president remains under regular medical observation, with reports indicating no cause for concern.
“He maintains a demanding daily schedule without restriction,”
Dr Barbabella reiterated in his summary, emphasising the robust condition of the 79-year-old Republican leader.
