Former President Donald Trump has criticized Somali-American Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. Omar was elected to the House of Representatives from Minnesota.

On Saturday, Trump criticized Ilhan Omar (D-MN) on social media, suggesting she should leave the United States. During his presidency, Trump had targeted Omar on multiple occasions.

On his Truth Social account, Trump wrote, "She should go back!" He also shared a video of Omar speaking at an event. The date of the event is unclear, but the video has been circulating on right-wing social media accounts for several weeks.

Ilhan Omar was born in Somalia. She fled the country at the age of eight during the civil war. She then spent four years in a refugee camp in Kenya before moving to the United States in 1995. Omar became a U.S. citizen in 2000.

Trump’s “Make America Great Again” supporters, including Laura Loomer, quickly shared the post across their social media channels. This is not the first time Trump has suggested that Omar should leave the country.

In September, speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said, "You know I met the leader of Somalia? I asked him if he wanted Ilhan Omar. He said he doesn’t want her."

Omar’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Regarding previous threats, Omar said, "I am not concerned. I do not know how they could revoke my citizenship or exile me. I am not the eight-year-old child who fled war. I have grown up, and so have my children."

She added, "Every morning, to hear in every discussion that 'we will make Ilhan leave the country'—it’s very strange."
