The Government of Bangladesh has announced the transfer of 21 senior police officers, including 15 Additional Police Superintendents (Addl. SP) and six Assistant Police Superintendents (APSP), as part of an administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening leadership across key units.
On Monday, 16 March, three separate gazette notifications, signed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, formally issued the transfers. These adjustments come in line with the government’s efforts to ensure efficient policing and optimal deployment of experienced officers throughout the country.
In a parallel development, a gazette notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Police Branch-1, signed by Deputy Secretary Tausif Ahmed, appointed high-ranking officials to critical leadership positions. Ahsan Habib Polash, currently serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Chittagong Range, has been assigned as Director General (DG) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), the elite paramilitary force responsible for counter-terrorism and serious crime operations.
Simultaneously, Sardar Nurul Amin, formerly Additional IGP (HRM) at Police Headquarters, has been appointed Director of the Special Branch (SB), the intelligence arm of the national police. Moreover, Additional IGP Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has been designated as Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), overseeing investigative operations into complex criminal cases nationwide.

Police officials emphasised that these transfers are routine and part of standard administrative reforms. They are designed not only to bolster law enforcement efficiency but also to ensure transparency and accountability in policing across the nation.
Officials noted that the reshuffle would enable strategic deployment of personnel in areas of priority, particularly in counter-terrorism, intelligence, and criminal investigation divisions, where experienced leadership is critical.
With these appointments, the government seeks to reinforce operational readiness and maintain public trust in the police force, aligning with broader national security objectives.
