Two Bangladeshis killed in a pickup truck accident in Malaysia

Rompin, Malaysia – 17 January 2026: Two Bangladeshi labourers have tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Malaysia, while another sustained serious injuries. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at approximately 2:25 PM local time, near Kampung Pervira Jaya along the Jalan Felda Selancar–Felda Redong road in Rompin.

According to a report by New Straits Times Online (NST Online), the victims were identified as Md. Kader, 34, and Md. Dalim, 30, both employed as oil palm plantation workers. Another Bangladeshi worker, who was also in the vehicle, sustained critical injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.

Incident Details:
Rompin District Police Superintendent, Sharif Shai Sharif Mandoi, stated that four foreign workers were travelling in a Daihatsu pickup carrying pesticides from Felda Redong towards Felda Selancar. Two passengers were seated in the front alongside the driver, while two others occupied the rear of the vehicle.

Initial investigations suggest that the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle, but lost control, causing the pickup to veer off the road and plunge into a roadside ditch on the left-hand side. The collision proved fatal for Md. Kader, who was in the front passenger seat, and Md. Dalim, who was seated in the rear. The third injured worker was also in the back, while the driver remarkably escaped unharmed.

The critically injured labourer has been admitted to the Segamat Hospital Red Zone, where he is receiving intensive medical care. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been transported to Muadzam Shah Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
