In a special operation in Ukhiya of Cox’s Bazar, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two drug traders with nearly 90,000 yaba pills. On Monday (17 November) afternoon, they were arrested during an operation in the North Sonarpara area of Jaliapalong Union.
Later, at around 7 pm on Monday, the matter was confirmed by Lieutenant Colonel Kamrul Hasan, the commanding officer of RAB-15.
The arrested individuals are Samsul Alam (30), son of the late Abdul Rahman of the area, and Abdul Shukkor (24), son of the late Md. Nazrul.
RAB stated that, based on secret information, an operation was conducted in the Sonarpara area of Ukhiya at noon. At that time, a white sack in the possession of the drug traders was searched, and 89,905 yaba pills were recovered.
Lieutenant Colonel Kamrul Hasan said that regular surveillance and operations are ongoing to prevent drug trafficking in the border areas. Legal procedures regarding the recovered yaba and the two arrested individuals are underway.
