Two Extortion Coordinators Arrested in Bhola, Cash Recovered

Police in Bhola Sadar Model Police Station have arrested two coordinators in connection with an extortion case, recovering BDT 20,000 in cash from their possession.

The arrested individuals are politically affiliated with the Jatiya Chhatra Samaj, led by Andalib Rahman Partha, and the Chhatra Dal. Additionally, both are actively involved with an organisation called the July Revolutionary Alliance, where Rakib Hossain serves as Joint Convener and Montasir Rahman holds the position of Senior Member Secretary.

 

According to the FIR and case documents (Case No. 24, dated 17/09/2025, GR-444/25, under Sections 385/386/506 of the Penal Code):

  • The accused repeatedly visited the complainant’s home, pressuring him for money.
  • At one point, the complainant, Sheikh Farid, along with his son Mojibur Rahman, handed BDT 150,000 to the accused at Hotel Nirala, Ward 2, Bhola Municipality.
  • Subsequently, they collected an additional BDT 10,000 at the complainant’s residence.
  • When further demands were made, the complainant became suspicious and filed a police complaint.

The FIR also states that the accused, Rakib Hossain (30) and Hasan Montasir Rahman (20), demanded BDT 200,000 under the pretext of removing the complainant’s grandson, Md. Jitu, from the accused list.

 

The investigating officer conducted an operation, arresting the two accused named in the FIR and seizing BDT 20,000 in extorted cash from them.
