Two Female Members of ‘Pushing’ Gang Arrested in Dhaka

Two active female members of the ‘Dhakkamara’ (Pushing) gang have been arrested in the capital by the Tejgaon Police under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Confirmation and Arrest Details

The news was confirmed on Sunday, 10 August, by Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department.

The arrests took place on Friday following a raid at the Basundhara City Shopping Mall in Dhaka.

Incident Description

DC Talebur Rahman, citing information from Tejgaon Police, explained that the arrested suspects cunningly pushed a woman near the lift on the 7th floor of Basundhara City Shopping Mall. They then stole 40,000 Taka in cash from her vanity bag.

The victim, suspicious of the disturbance, checked her bag and confirmed that the money was missing. Her and her husband’s shouts drew the attention of the shopping mall’s security guards.

With the assistance of security personnel, the two female suspects were detained at the scene. However, two unidentified accomplices managed to escape stealthily.

During preliminary questioning, the arrested suspects confessed to the thefts.

Recovery and Legal Proceedings

With assistance from the Tejgaon Police and Women Police Unit, the suspects’ vanity bag was recovered containing 150,000 Taka in cash and the stolen gold tikli.

A formal case has been filed at Tejgaon Police Station regarding this incident. Legal action against the arrested suspects is currently underway.
