Two Killed in CNG-Motorcycle Collision at Mouchak Flyover, Including University Student

In a tragic road accident early Thursday morning, a university student and a CNG auto-rickshaw driver lost their lives following a head-on collision at the Mouchak Flyover in Malibagh, Dhaka. Another individual sustained injuries in the incident. The information was confirmed by Sub-Inspector Sushanta Kumar of Ramna Police Station.

The deceased motorcyclist, Yasin Arafat Ashik (21), was a student at North South University and a resident of the Mugda area. He was the son of Zahirul Islam. The CNG driver, Noyon Talukdar (70), hailed from Mogra village in Kalihati, Tangail, and had been living with his family in Dhalpur, Jatrabari.

According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, the collision occurred in the early hours when the CNG auto-rickshaw and the motorcycle collided head-on. Three people were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s emergency department in critical condition. Doctors on duty declared two of them dead on arrival, while the third individual is receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Speaking to reporters, Yasin’s maternal uncle, Jahangir Alam, stated:

“Yasin had gone out for a motorcycle ride with a friend last night. We received the news of the accident early this morning and rushed to the hospital, only to find him deceased. It is an unimaginable shock for our family.”

The son of the deceased CNG driver, Babul Talukdar, said:

“My father left home early in the morning to drive his CNG. Later, we received the tragic news of the accident and went to the hospital, where we saw him lifeless. It is devastating.”

Sub-Inspector Sushanta Kumar added:

“The accident took place on Thursday morning at Mouchak Flyover. Two people were killed, and one injured. The bodies of the deceased have been preserved at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, while the injured is receiving treatment locally.”

The incident has once again highlighted the critical need for road safety measures on busy flyovers in Dhaka. Authorities have urged drivers and commuters to exercise extreme caution, particularly during early morning hours when traffic is mixed with fast-moving vehicles.
