The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested two drug traffickers involved in smuggling Bangla homemade liquor in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. During the operation, 9.5 liters of Bangla liquor were seized.
The incident took place on Thursday (October 30) night.
The arrested individuals are Md. Kayesh, son of Oli Ahmed from Ukhiya Thangkali area, and Md. Abdul Faiz, son of the late Hashem from Teknaf-Naitongpara area.
Confirming the matter, Lt. Colonel Ashiqur Rahman, commander of Teknaf-2 BGB, said that at around 7:30 PM on Thursday (October 30), members on duty at the Damdamia Checkpost under Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) stopped a passenger bus named “Payra Service,” traveling from Cox’s Bazar to Teknaf, as part of routine inspection. During the inspection, the suspicious behavior of two passengers sitting with goods on the bus roof was noticed.
Upon searching, 9.5 liters of Bangla homemade liquor were recovered.
He further stated that the two traffickers were immediately arrested for carrying illegal substances. Legal action under the Narcotics Control Act is underway against the arrested individuals. The seized liquor and the accused will be handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further lawful action.
