Two Passengers Killed as Auto-Rickshaw Overturns in Lalmonirhat

In Aditmari, Lalmonirhat, a passenger auto-rickshaw lost control and fell into a ditch, killing two passengers. Another female passenger was injured in the accident.

The incident occurred on Saturday (25 October) morning near Ansar Khan’s Pukurpar area on the Mahishkhocha Bazar–Aditmari bypass road. The deceased were Bakul Mia (60) from South Balapara, Mahishkhocha Union, and Atikul Islam Atik (35) from Kachuruma Barhat Kali area.

According to police and local sources, the auto-rickshaw was traveling from Mahishkhocha Bazar to Aditmari Sadar with several passengers when it lost control near Ansar Khan’s Pukurpar and overturned into a deep ditch. Atikul Islam died on the spot, while Bakul Mia and a female passenger were seriously injured.

Local residents rushed the injured to Aditmari Upazila Health Complex. Due to the severity of his condition, Bakul Mia was referred to Rangpur Medical College (RMC) Hospital, but he died en route.

Officer-in-Charge of Aditmari Police Station Ali Akbar confirmed the accident, stating that police have been dispatched to the scene and two people lost their lives.
