Two Senior BNP Leaders Arrested in Narayanganj

Law enforcement agencies in Narayanganj have detained two senior leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its affiliated organisations on various charges. Currently, both are in custody at the office of the District Police Superintendent, held by the Detective Branch (DB) of the police.

Details of the Arrest

The arrests took place on the night of Wednesday, 6 August, in the areas of Nasirabad City Corporation (NCC) wards 6 and 4.

The detained individuals are:

  • T H Tofa: Former Joint Convener of Siddhirganj Police Station BNP and Senior Vice-President of the BNP’s Central Jubo Dal (Youth Wing).
  • S M Aslam: Convener of Narayanganj Metropolitan Labour League and Vice-President of Siddhirganj Police Station BNP.

Official Statements

Zahir, Officer-in-Charge of the Detective Branch in the district, confirmed the arrests of Aslam and Tofa and stated that further details would be disclosed later.

Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Mohammad Shahinur Alam, added that multiple allegations have been filed against the BNP leaders Tofa and Aslam. Both remain under the custody of the Detective Branch.
