The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially announced the country’s first artificial intelligence (AI)-driven virtual daughter character, ‘Latifa’, alongside her family. This innovative project, deeply inspired by Emirati culture and values, has been designed to foster meaningful connections across communities, languages, and social backgrounds.
This initiative is a part of the ‘Year of the Community’ campaign, proclaimed by President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aimed at promoting unity and inclusivity.
During the project’s launch, citizens were invited to participate in the naming process through a public voting campaign. Nearly 14,000 people cast their votes, choosing from three shortlisted names.
| Proposed Name | Percentage of Votes | Outcome |
| Latifa | 43% | Selected as UAE’s first virtual daughter |
| Meera | 37% | Runner-up |
| Dubai | 20% | Third place |
With the majority vote, ‘Latifa’ was chosen as the official name of the UAE’s pioneering AI virtual daughter.
Latifa was also introduced alongside her family members—father Mohammed, mother Salama, and brother Rashed. All characters are depicted in traditional Emirati attire with a modern touch, symbolising the harmonious blend of heritage and progress.
The creation of Latifa and her digital family serves a larger goal:
The family will soon make its debut across social media platforms, actively engaging with audiences to raise awareness about responsible digital practices and cultural values.
