UAE Urges Nuclear Deal Between Iran, US

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has called for the urgent restoration of diplomatic ties between Iran and the United States, emphasising the need for a formal nuclear agreement. Speaking at the World Government Summit in Dubai, Anwar Gargash, senior adviser to the UAE President, said, “It is now essential to reach a nuclear deal with Iran. Relations between Iran and the United States must be rebuilt.”

Gargash’s comments come amid renewed signals from both Tehran and Washington that they are prepared to return to the negotiating table, following months of heightened tensions. The remarks were widely interpreted as the UAE’s push for diplomacy in a region long plagued by political and military instability.

“The region has endured multiple catastrophic conflicts,” Gargash added. “We do not need another confrontation at this moment. I want to see direct Iran–US talks, which will foster mutual understanding and prevent these longstanding issues from escalating further.”

The call for dialogue comes against the backdrop of former US President Donald Trump’s repeated threats of military action against Iran. While Trump’s administration maintained a hardline approach, Iranian leadership has recently shown willingness to engage diplomatically. President Masoud Pejeshkian of Iran has instructed the country’s diplomats to initiate talks with Washington, signalling a potential thaw in the previously tense bilateral relationship.

Experts suggest that a renewed nuclear agreement between the two nations could not only reduce the threat of conflict in the Middle East but also stabilise energy markets and improve international trade and security cooperation. A successful negotiation may also pave the way for broader regional agreements involving Gulf nations, further contributing to long-term stability.
