UCB Advances Pilgrim Services with Hajj Conference

United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) held a Hajj Agency Conference at a prominent hotel in Chattogram on Tuesday, reinforcing its commitment to delivering seamless and secure financial services for pilgrims and strengthening collaborations with Hajj agencies across Bangladesh.

The conference convened senior bank officials alongside representatives from over 100 leading Hajj agencies, providing a platform to discuss operational improvements, innovative service solutions, and ways to enhance the overall Hajj experience for pilgrims.

Distinguished Participants

The event was presided over by Mr. Abul Alam Ferdous, Additional Managing Director of UCB, serving as Chief Guest. Special Guests included:

Mr. Alhaj Shariat Ullah Shahid, Chairman of the Chattogram Zonal Committee and Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB)

Mr. Alhaj Mohammed Abdul Malek, Secretary of the Chattogram Zonal Committee and Joint General Secretary of HAAB’s Central Committee

UCB’s Head of the Chattogram Metro Region, Head of SME & Agri Banking Division, senior executives, and agency representatives were also present, reflecting the bank’s focus on partnership and dialogue.

Commitment to Pilgrims

Addressing attendees, Mr. Ferdous emphasised the sacred responsibility of facilitating Hajj and assured that UCB remains dedicated to providing timely, reliable, and secure financial services for all pilgrims. He highlighted the bank’s robust network of 423 branches and sub-branches along with over 602 agent banking outlets nationwide, enabling extensive reach and efficient service delivery.

Since initiating Hajj services four years ago, UCB has expanded its agency network from 61 to 107 in 2026, with plans to serve over 200 agencies by 2027, making it the fifth-largest bank in Hajj operations in Bangladesh.
