UCB Champions Nationwide Financial Literacy Initiative

United Commercial Bank Private Limited (UCB) marked the first Monday of March 2026 with a comprehensive nationwide Financial Literacy Day, aimed at strengthening citizens’ understanding of financial management and promoting the secure use of modern banking services. According to a press release issued by the bank, the initiative seeks to foster informed financial decision-making and to ensure safe participation in digital financial transactions.

The theme for this year’s campaign was: “Ensuring Safe Cashless Transactions through Financial Education”. Activities were simultaneously conducted at UCB’s headquarters and across all divisional branches in Bangladesh, enabling engagement with both urban and rural populations.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Nabil Mustafizur Rahman, Deputy Managing Director of UCB. Sessions were led by Senior Executive Vice President Mr. Shahbaz Talat. Addressing the audience, Mr. Rahman emphasised:

“Using mobile or online banking alone is not enough. Customers must understand how to conduct transactions safely and securely. UCB is committed to providing clear guidance, raising awareness, and promoting safe digital banking practices.”

He further highlighted that, with the rapid expansion of digital transactions, having proper knowledge has become essential for all citizens.

Looking ahead to 2026, UCB has outlined strategic areas of focus for financial education. The bank aims to expand digital banking infrastructure, strengthen cybersecurity awareness, and enhance customer education programmes. Special attention will be given to rural and underprivileged areas to bridge the digital divide and ensure equitable access to modern banking services.

UCB Financial Education Focus Areas 2026

Focus Area Objective
