The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday issued a strong condemnation of the arbitrary detention of nine additional UN personnel in Yemen by Huthi rebels. The Secretary-General also denounced the seizure of UN assets and facilities in territories under Huthi control.
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric provided further details in a statement: “Most recently, the Huthi de facto authorities have detained nine more UN personnel, bringing the total number of arbitrarily detained UN staff to 53 since 2021.”
