UNO Ferdous Ara Passes Away in Hospital

Ferdous Ara, the Executive Officer (UNO) of Banchharampur Upazila in Brahmanbaria, has passed away while receiving medical treatment. She died on Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. at the Islami Bank Central Hospital in Kakrail, Dhaka, leaving behind her family, colleagues, and numerous admirers in deep mourning.

Born in Dhaka, Ferdous Ara hailed from a paternal home in Chandpur. She resided with her family in the Sheikhdi area of Dhaka’s Jatrabari neighbourhood. Her in-laws live in Khanebari, Daudkandi Upazila, Comilla. A distinguished member of the 36th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration), she had joined the Banchharampur Upazila office as UNO on 9 January 2025. Prior to this assignment, she served at the District Commissioner’s Office, Brahmanbaria, where she was widely respected for her diligence and professionalism.

At the time of her passing, she is survived by her husband and their seven-year-old daughter, in addition to numerous colleagues and well-wishers who admired her dedication and integrity.

According to Md. Robiul Hasan Bhuiya, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Banchharampur, Ferdous Ara fell ill on Monday and travelled to Dhaka for medical attention. She was admitted to hospital suffering from severe migraine, and unfortunately, her condition deteriorated, leading to her death at 7:00 a.m. today. Her family has confirmed that she will be buried at her in-law’s residence in Daudkandi, Comilla.

A message of condolence was posted at 10:30 a.m. on the official Facebook page of the District Commissioner, Brahmanbaria, expressing deep sorrow over her untimely demise. The statement highlighted her qualities as a conscientious, honest, capable, and approachable officer, noting that her passing represents a significant loss for the nation, which has lost an accomplished and dedicated civil servant.

Ranjan Chandra De, Additional District Commissioner (Overall), told Prothom Alo, “She was admitted to hospital due to severe headache. Later, she suffered a cardiac arrest. Her body will be taken to Comilla for final rites.”

Ferdous Ara’s sudden passing has left a profound void in the administrative community of Brahmanbaria and beyond, with colleagues and residents remembering her for her professionalism, kindness, and unwavering commitment to public service.
