Veteran Statesman Abdul Mannan Khan Passes Away at 73

The veteran politician, former Minister of State for Housing and Public Works, and distinguished freedom fighter, Advocate Abdul Mannan Khan, has passed away. He breathed his last at approximately 6:00 PM on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, while undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in the capital. He was 73.

A Final Battle with Health

Mr. Khan had been contending with various age-related complications for an extended period. His youngest son, Hasib Mahmud Khan Anindya, confirmed that his father had recently suffered a severe brain stroke, which led to his hospitalisation. As his condition deteriorated, he was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and subsequently placed on life support.

Medical professionals reported that while on life support Tuesday afternoon, he suffered a fatal cardiac arrest. His passing marks the end of a prolific era for his constituency and the political landscape of Bangladesh.

During his illustrious career, he served three terms as the party’s Office Secretary and held prestigious positions within the Presidium and the Advisory Committee. His tenure as a Member of Parliament for the Dhaka-1 (Dohar-Nawabganj) constituency was particularly noted for transformative infrastructure and educational reforms.
